Interview Q&A with Gurinder Singh Baasi
1. Tell me about your and your company?
I honestly believe that choosing a career path of a social media influencer was not an easy choice to make. Initially, I have been confused to pursue this profession, and I had a feeling that I may not be able to do well in this field. However, I always thought after looking at people inspiring others through different platforms like one good example is TEDx. So, this particular thought process helped me to choose this career path as I started to believe that one can make a difference to the life of others by speaking on social platforms.
2. Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you started doing this?
There are various stories to talk about in this regard. But one particular thing that I would like to mention here is about the father of my best friend. Once we were having a cup of tea together, and various social issues were being discussed. I told my uncle about my activity and being in this field. We had a long conversation on different issues, where I talked about my work in detail, and guess what! At the end of our discussion, the uncle asked me what you actually do, what is your job? I told him that I am a social media influencer, and he could not believe this. He believed that being on social media is part of my hobby maybe. It was one of the interesting things that I faced during this career.
3. Which tips would you recommend to your colleagues in your industry, to help them to thrive and not “burn out”?
There are various misconceptions about this field in the minds of people. Some of them think that it’s useless, and some other thinks that this field is like a magic; they will enter in it, and they will be a star next day. I would like to tell my colleagues, and other who are looking to join this field that “be patient”. Social Media is not magic to turn you into star in a few days’ time. However, it has the capability to do so, but it is not the main standard to judge its potential. Stay positive, calm and patient, and go for one step at one time. The process is slow and steady, so don’t burn out yourself with so many things, rather keep it simple and realistic.
4. None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. Is there a particular person who you are grateful towards who helped get you where you are? Can you share a story?
Absolutely, there is always someone, who helps you or inspires you to go for something. One of my friends has always believed in my capabilities and talent, and he always pushed me to do something big. He always helped me, whenever I needed his help, and through every thick and thin, he was there for me. His belief in my capabilities really boosted my energy always, and he is the one, who actually pushed me to this field when I was hesitant to do so.
5. How have you used your success to bring goodness to the world?
My main objective to join this field was the fact that a social media influencer can do so many things, which no one else can do. A doctor may treat the patients, a business may provide the products, but the role of a social media influencer is quite big and important in so many ways. We have the ability and platform to inspire hundreds of people around the world. Our message of humanity, peace, and positivity can spread these vibes in others. We can spread a great message of unity and goodness for the whole world if we stay responsible.
6. Do you have a favorite “Life Lesson Quote”? Can you share a story of how that was relevant to you in your life?
There are many “life lesson quotes”, which I really like, and they always helped me to stay focused and positive. But one of the quotes is always in the back of my mind, and that quote is quoted by Apple’s founder, Steve Jobs. He said that “Sometimes life’s going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith” I really love this quote, and I believe that people should also keep this quote in their minds when they are down, when they are disappointed, and when they are losing faith in anything. Life can be a hard thing in a variety of manners, but some of you can get success, which doesn’t lose faith.
